The Department of Zoology is looking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Morphological Computation, this post is fixed-term for 12 months.
The responsibilities of the position are: study web materials using the full range of available techniques e.g. laser vibrometry, high speed imaging, Finite Element Analysis; participate in the development of novel measurement and analytical techniques.
The successful candidate will ideally have a PhD (doctorate-level) qualification in biology or computing with background and interest in robotics, ideally soft robotics. Given the interdisciplinarity of the project a senior postgraduate with experience in the area of study might also apply. The post needs attention to detail and diligent record keeping as well as careful experimentation and analysis. The postholder will have excellent communication skills, oral and written, and a proven ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels, as well as independently prepare the research for publication in high level journals.
