The Department of Zoology is at the centre of Oxford's research and teaching in whole organism biology. The Zoology IT Office plays a vital role in the research and teaching of the Department. We have developed a very capable IT infrastructure and use cutting-edge technology to provide a wide range of services for the Department.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented person to join the Zoology IT team as Deputy IT Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and develop the server and networking IT infrastructure. As a senior member of staff, you will deputise for the IT Manager, and provide advice and mentoring to the four junior members of the team. You will be expected to contribute to all aspects of the work of the IT Office, including providing expert advice to staff and students.
The successful candidate will have a wide range of appropriate skills and have a deep understanding of server and desktop operating systems including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. You will use your skills and experience to innovate and improve upon the services we provide to the Department, its visitors and collaborators.
