Research Interests

I work on un-habituated wild chimpanzees in Guinea-Bissau, West Africa. My main research interests are animal behaviour, behavioural variation, culture and tool use.

The main objective of my research is to determine behavioural variation among four neighbouring chimpanzee communities in Cantanhez National Park, assessing potential drivers and implications of any inter-group cultural variations found. I use a combination of methodologies that include direct observations, camera trapping, primate archaeology and isotope analyses.
