Dr Dan Challender

Research Interests

Dan Challender joined the Department of Zoology, and specifically the Interdisciplinary Centre for Conservation Science (ICCS), in April 2018 as a Postdoctoral Researcher on the Oxford Martin School Programme on the Illegal Wildlife Trade project, ‘Exploring the effective use of celebrities in wildlife demand reduction: changing perceptions of pangolins in Vietnam.’ He completed his PhD, ‘Reforming international wildlife trade interventions in CITES’, at DICE, University of Kent, UK. He subsequently joined IUCN’s Global Species Programme to lead the organisation’s contribution to CITES and broader illegal wildlife trade work, prior to joining the University of Oxford. He has a particular interest in pangolins and their conservation and is Chair of the IUCN SSC Pangolin Specialist Group.
