Andrew is a DPhil candidate in the Natural Environment Research Council’s (NERC) Doctoral Training Partnership.
Using dendrochronological methods, he will be investigating the role of soil nutrients, specifically nitrogen, in controlling the growth of deciduous shrubs in the Arctic tundra.
His research will be supervised by Dr. Lizzy Jeffers, Dr. Marc Macias-Fauria (Geography) and Prof. Kathy Willis.
Andrew holds a BSc in Geography (University of St Andrews – 1st class), and an MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management (University of Oxford).
Andrew’s research is primarily funded by NERC alongside a smaller Gubay Award from the Isle of Man Government.
