Project: Biodiversity and global climate change in Bhutan: a model for the Himalayas

In the face of rapid socio-economic development, fragmentation and loss of natural wildland is imminent. Asia’s fragile forests are decreasing fast. Further, the Himalayas are at a greater risk than most regions of experiencing change due to climatic warming. Using a combination of camera trap dataset from 2 years survey and vegetation dataset from 5 years survey, I will evaluate the distribution, connectivity, habitat zonation and niche gradient of flora and fauna. Further, I will simulate future climate scenarios to assess the responses and project any changes in the distribution of some important megafauna and tree species.
