NERC Knowledge Exchange Fellow/ IUCN Species Conservation Success Task Force
Research Interests
I am the Task Force Coordinator for the IUCN Green Status of Species (previously called Green List of Species), which will be a new set of metrics for assessing successful conservation. Currently, conservation success is measured in terms of the outcome we wish to avoid (extinction) rather than the outcome we wish to achieve: the recovery of populations carrying out their ecological roles throughout their indigenous range. The Green List will provide objective criteria to assess progress toward full species recovery. Previously, my research focus was in road ecology, specifically the effects of roads on behaviour of wildlife and humans.
