Dr Cristian Capelli

Research Interests

My research focuses on human evolution, with a particular attention to the processes (cultural and historical) that have shaped the distribution of genetic variation across human populations. Current projects address the historical events that led to the peopling of the Mediterranean region and the European continent, and the pattern of migration and admixture in Sub-Sahara Africa.

Teaching: I run together with Rosalind Harding the Human Evolutionary Genetics option course for Biological Sciences (3rd year), which is included into the Human Genetics and Evolution compulsory course for Human Sciences (2nd year). I also lecture for the 1st year Biological Sciences and Human Sciences in the Genes and Organismsmodules.
