Research Interests

I am a microbiologist interested in the challenges created by antibiotic resistance (AMR) and the diversity of approaches needed to tackle it. After a PhD focusing on unraveling the evolutionary dynamics of an important driver of antimicrobial resistance in this department, I am now working on the dynamics of plasmid-mediated resistance to colistin, a last resort antibiotic as part of a UK-China collaboration. To answer these questions I like to combine bench experiments with genomics and mathematical modelling. I also have a keen interest in developing novel and effective ways, such as boardgames, to communicate around the problem of AMR.
