A study published in Parasites & Vectors by Elinor Godfrey and Professor Sarah Randolph has shown that the economic recession (unemployment) triggered a spike in cases of tick-borne encephalitis in 2009 in Lithuania, Latvia and Poland, associated with high background levels of poverty and the traditional and commercial use of foods gathered from forests, where ticks live.

2011 Linnean Medal

Charles Godfray has been awarded the 2011 Linnean Medal for Zoology, given by the Linnean Society.
