research interests

I develop evolutionary theory primarily to study humans. I am interested in questions like: what are the evolutionary explanations for human social behaviour? Do cultures evolve and if so how should we model them? To what extent can evolutionary models help us understand the changes in social complexity over the past 12,000 years? How do evolutionary models differ from economic rational actor models? Are economies subject to natural selection? If so, how can existing Darwinian theory be of use to policy makers? My work involves collaboration with academics and professionals from Economics, Philosophy, Political Geography, Archaeology and Molecular Biology.
