I graduated from Oxford University in Biological Sciences in 2005, and after a year undertaking a variety of lab and field based work completed an MSc in Evolutionary and Behavioural Ecology at the University of Exeter. My MSc dissertation project explored the role of prior experience in alternative mating strategies in burying beetles and was supervised by Prof. Allen Moore.
My DPhil investigates the processes responsible for generating and maintaining high avian diversity in Amazonia, and is supervised by Nat Seddon, Joe Tobias and Nigel Collar (BirdLife International). Focusing on closely related antbird species I will test existing speciation hypotheses, with particular emphasis on speciation in the face of gene flow. I will also work in collaboration with BirdLife International to apply my findings to future conservation policy decisions.
